KILN - DRIED
TONGUE & GROOVE
NORTHERN RED PINE
|

Veneer siding
is sliced from each side of the log
just thick enough to get the full
height and mill a tongue and groove.
It is used on gable ends to match
full logs or butted into a vertical
log post at outside corners.

True half-log
siding is half the thickness of the
full log and
includes a full tongue and
groove. It’s saddle notched with
full-round extensions at the corners
for an authentic look. |

Log siding can be used on
interior or exterior walls of new frame construction
or existing structures. Veneer siding is most
suitable on interior walls or on exterior gable ends
where there are no corners to deal with. It can also
be used with vertical log corner posts on exterior
walls or dormers.

True half-log siding with full
log saddle-notch corners is used for exterior walls
where the authentic saddle-notch corner look is
desired. Log siding is applied over an insulated
frame wall with screws and can be labor intensive to
install. In most cases, full log construction is a
good choice for new construction, but if your
builder is more comfortable with frame construction
or you’re remodeling an existing home, log siding
may be the answer.
