BEARS DEN LOG
HOMES & QUILTS
Report from the Job Site (08/07/08)
Noel and Teresa Chicoine's logs will
arrive at their job site in the Black Hills on Monday,
August 11th; the Enercept panels for their roof will
be on site August 12th. It quit raining long enough to dig
the foundation--then rained another two inches. The
contractor spent a day pumping water, and will have to wait
for the ground to dry before pouring the footings.
With the weather in charge, the planned start date for
stacking logs is no longer August 15th. When the footings
are poured and the subfloor is built, they'll start.

Rob and Jodi Cooper's new log home
will be east of Lincoln, NE. Their construction
drawings have been reviewed and approved by an engineering firm as
required by Lancaster County. The Coopers are waiting for a
bid from a promising contractor. And the contractor is
waiting for final figures from the plumber and HVAC guys.
He tracked them down via cell phone
numbers. The plumber was at the Sturgis Bike Rally, had been
involved in a wreck, and hospitalized. The HVAC guy had gone
south on vacation, had an appendicitis attack, followed by
surgery, and was also in the hospital.
"Life is a lot like a soap opera,"
Mike said.

Jason and Jennifer Erickson's
contractor is getting bids from potential subs. They plan to
build in 2009. Their log home will be a second residence in
an upscale development across from the entrance to Deer
Mountain in the Black Hills.
